New offering gives councils nationwide access to core place intelligence tools and movement insights to support evidence-based planning.

A free version of Planwisely's planning intelligence platform is now available for Australian councils, giving planners on-demand access to local insights without the need for GIS expertise.

"Good planning starts with good evidence, but access to spatial data and analytics tools has traditionally been limited by cost, complexity and technical expertise," says Planwisely Executive Director Ali Inayathusein.

"Planwisely Explore is designed to lower those barriers and give more councils access to insights that can help support better decisions for their communities."

Uncover powerful insights in minutes

Used by councils and government agencies across Australia, Planwisely helps planners understand how people move through places, access services, interact with infrastructure and experience the built environment. These insights can then be used to support a wide range of planning outcomes, from transport and active travel planning through to open space strategy, urban design and placemaking.

With Planwisely Explore, councils can now access core platform functionality and movement insights through a self-service model, enabling planners to rapidly investigate, analyse and visualise place-based evidence within their local government area.

A pathway to deeper insights

While Planwisely Explore provides access to core place intelligence capabilities, advanced datasets and analytical tools remain available through the full Planwisely platform.

This includes specialised datasets and enhanced analytical capabilities that support more detailed investigation, strategic planning and investment decision-making, including:

  • People Movement Data for understanding visitation, travel patterns, dwell times and home location trends.
  • Foot Traffic Data and Road Traffic Data for measuring pedestrian and vehicle volumes and movement patterns at a link level across Australia.
  • Station Catchment Data for identifying how people access train stations on foot and patterns of movement around them.
  • PATH active transport scenario planning for understanding the real behavioural, economic and health impacts of your council’s walk and cycle projects (currently NSW only).
  • Demographic reports for custom catchments, which helps councils understand who can access council assets, amenities and more by different modes and travel times.

For councils looking to move beyond baseline evidence and answer more complex planning questions, these additional capabilities can be unlocked as requirements evolve.
